Munnar is an enchanting town and a picturesque hill station situated in Kerala’s Western Ghats. Set in Idukki district at an altitude of 6000 ft, Munnar used to be the British rulers’ summer resort during the colonial periods. It is renowned for its green belt of lush forests and endless expanse of tea plantations, and is home to some of the endangered animal species such as Neelakurinji and Nilgiri Tahr. Due to its pristine valleys, mountains, and exotic varieties of flora and fauna it is known to be one of the most sought after tourist destinations in South India.

The presence of three rivers flowing through this area, namely Mattupetti, Periavaru, and Nallathanni, makes Munnar even more popular. The best time to visit Munnar from September to June is because of the pleasant weather. Summers (April-June) are a bit warm but during this season one can still visit Munnar. Monsoon season (July and August) experiences heavy rainfall that could hamper your travel plans and should therefore be avoided during this time. September to March is perfect time to visit beautiful scenic Munnar.
