Ayodhya :– Overview

Ayodhya is one of India’s most admired pilgrimage and heritage destinations. With the creation of Ram Mandir in progress, however, it is expected to gain a more prominent role as a tourist destination.

Ayodhya (City of Raja Ram) is approx. 690 Km from the National Capital Delhi & approx. 125 Km from state capital Lucknow. The divine city of Lord Ram is surround by Ayodhya’s nearby destinations like Prayagraj, Varanasi, Gorakhpur and Chitrakoot etc.
However, The Holy town is on the banks of the Saryu River and is famously known as the birthplace of the Hindu god Shree Ram. The city was founded by Raja Dashratha, the father of Shree Ram, as per Hindu mythology. For various religious and political reasons, Ayodhya, a highly revered destination for Hindus. Although the city has been in the eye of the storm for the last two decades. Generally, The sightseeing of Ayodhya includes a visit to Hanuman Garhi, a huge four-sided fort. Also, Other places to visit are Nageshwarnath Temple, which is built by Kush, son of Ram; the Ramkatha Museum, and Dashrath Mahal, which are some of the prime places of interest. The birthplace of the four Jain Tirthankars, too, is Ayodhya.

The capital city of Kosaldesh was ruled by many eminent rulers, such as Ikshvaku, Prithu, Mandhata, Harishchandra, Sagar, Bhagirath, Raghu, Dileep, Dashrath, and Ram. It was during their rule that the kingdom’s grandeur reached its summit and epitomized Ram Rajya.
Although it is on the east bank of the Saryu River, is brimming with the remains of a bygone period. Ramayan and Shri Ramcharitmanas, the famous epics, exhibit Ayodhya’s splendor.

This town has become a major hub for pilgrims, historians, archaeologists and students alike. An episode of Ramayan, a page of ancient history and a cluster of tourist attractions.

How to reach Ayodhya:

By Air: –

As of now, Chaudhary Charan Singh, Amausi airport at Lucknow is the main serving airport for Ayodhya. The distance of Lucknow airport is approx. 130 kms from Ayodhya. So, Taxi services for the holy city are easily available from Lucknow airport & take just 2-3 hrs to reach.
Other airports for Ayodhya are Varanasi Airport at 200 Kms distance & Prayagraj Airport at 170 Kms distance.

However, there is an international airport is proposed in Ayodhya on the name of Lord Rama. That will be extension & renovation of existing

Faizabad Airport. The work is going on in full swing & expected to be completed at the end of 2021 or early 2022.

By Rail: –

Faizabad and Ayodhya are the district’s main railway stations. Also, it has direct trains to almost all of the major towns and cities. However, Ayodhya Railway Station is part of the northern railway. Also, It is on the Mughal Sarai-Lucknow portion of the broad gauge line. The railway station connects Lucknow, Kanpur, New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Mumbai, Kolkata, Guwahati, Patna and Varanasi etc with Ayodhya. So, Few Major trains are Sabarmati Express, Kolkata Jammu Tawi Express, Ganga Satluj Express & Kaifiyat Express etc. Also, Saket Express, Doon Express, Sadhbhavana Express, Faizabad Delhi Express etc also connect the town with other major destinations.

By Road: –

The city is reachable by an excellent road network from Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Delhi and Varanasi etc. Although, Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) buses ply from Ayodhya to other cities & towns of Uttar Pradesh. Normally cab facilities are available within the city. Also, The nearby cities like Prayagraj-166 km, Gonda-51 km, Gorakhpur-135 km, Sravasti-109 km, Lucknow -134 km and Varanasi-209 km from Ayodhya. The Ayodhya tour package is almost incomplete without the above destinations.
