The Nishat Bagh is a 12-terraced garden, near the famous Dal Lake of Srinagar. After Shalimar Bagh it is the second-largest Mughal garden in Kashmir. Popularly known as “Garden of Paradise,” it has a beautiful central Mughal water channel with many fountains surrounded by tall Chinar trees. The garden is divided into two halves by a stream of standing water and each level of the garden is defined by an elevated embankment with its array of kaleidoscopic flowers. Although Nishat Bagh ‘s layout was based on Persian Gardens design, the actual landscaping was done in accordance with the unique Kashmir Valley terrain and water patterns.
