The most memorable and delightful work of Emperor Lalitaditya of Surya (meaning ‘solar’) dynasty is that the construction of spacious Martand temple dedicated to the Sun god, Bhaskar. the design of the development of the temple and therefore architecture of temple is rare. Now, in ruins, it’s still appreciable for its design, beauty and art. Martand temple may be a mirror of the art and skill of Kashmiri Hindus. In its backdrop are the snow-capped mountains and it’s built with strong and square limestone. Its pillars have a Greek pattern that lends gorgeousness to the present edifice.
