Located in Jaisalmer ‘s golden town, Jain Temples, located inside the famous Jaisalmer Fort, are places of great historical and religious significance. Such temples are of considerable historical importance along with being closely correlated with religious sentiments. Jain Temples are a must-visit at Jaisalmer while you’re in town. Built in the Dilwara style, famous for its architecture worldwide, these temples are dedicated to Rikhabdevji and Shambhavdev Ji. The Jain Temples are truly a Jaisalmer city gem, and a nice place to be at for all those visitors interested in history and religion.
All the seven temples are linked and constructed using the same Jaisalmeri stone of golden-yellow colour. Every temple appears to the tourists with their own story to tell as a riddle. The most beautiful carvings imprinted on them are those temples dedicated to Rishabhdev, Sambhavnath, Chandraprabhu and Parsvanath. The beautiful sculptures across the walls that are covered by glass cupboards and pillars carved with gods and spiritual women can be enjoyed. There’s a space for that alone— Gyan Bhandar. The Gyan Bhandar is, as the name implies, a very small and attractive library, built in 1500. The library is full of rare ancient documents and manuscripts. Jain Temples are a must-visit in Jaisalmer particularly if you are interested in architecture and history.
