City Palace is located right in the middle of Old Jaipur covering one-seventh of the city. The palace building dates back to 1732, but it still looks new and clean, as it should always have been. The entire palace is divided into different sections that contain courtyards, parks, palaces and more. A part of the palace has now been turned into a museum where you can see all the royal family’s antiques and belongings. The walls are beautifully sculpted with mirrors and hand-painted paintings. You’ll also see how accurate the carvings are rendered on the palace’s roofs.
This wonderful palace reflects the rich culture that Jaipur still holds on to. You’ll find a great mix of Rajputana with Mughal architecture and European style. The vast property reflects the grandeur and patrimony of the bygone age royal families. The entire palace is a portal that gives you the opportunity to take a look at past stories and the true sense of Jaipur’s authentic culture. You can buy some souvenirs from the market just outside the palace to take part with you in the richness of local culture and enjoy the trip from now until 1732 etc.
