This serene place is found almost a kilometre from Kausani bus stand and accessible by a little walk uphill. it’s been built as a tribute to the Mahatma who visited this place for about fortnight in 1929. Impressed by the pristine great thing about Kausani, Gandhiji described it because the “Switzerland of India” and was also inspired to write down his treatise “Anasakti Yoga” here.
The place now is a search cum study centre and features a small museum that’s well stocked books and photos of Gandhiji. There also are about 24 rooms on offer for accommodation with library facility for visitors. The place is peaceful and also houses alittle prayer room where prayer sessions happen each morning and evening. Lined by deodar and pine trees and weather permitting, the view of the Himalayas from the Ashram is breath-taking.
