Abhaneri Stepwell is one of the most intricate architectural pieces in Rajasthan, India, situated at an approximate distance of 20 km from Jaipur. Also known as Chand Baori, one of the biggest stepwells in Rajasthan’s existence is the Stepwell. When it was built, in the time of drought, the well not only helped the villagers and the traders draw water, but also preserved groundwater.
Stepwells are very typical structures you’ll see in Rajasthan due to the state’s arid climate and water scarcity. The Chand Baori or the Abhaneri Stepwell, dedicated to Harshat Mata, the goddess of Happiness and Joy, is not only one of Rajasthan’s great constructions, but also a beautiful one. The most impressive aspect about these huge systems is that they have been intact for more than 10 years.
