Manimahesh – According to one popular legend, it has popular that Lord Shiva created Manimahesh after he married Goddess Parvati and performed penance on the banks of Manimahesh Lake. It has mentioned that Gaddis (Local tribes of the region), adopted Lord Shiva as their deity. They are the people who live in the Bharmour Valley. The Gaddis started calling this mountainous region as ‘Shiv Bhumi’ (Land of Shiva) and themselves as devotees of Shiva. The legend further states that before Shiva married Parvati at Mansarovar Lake and became the “universal parents of the universe”, Shiva created the Mount Kailash in Himachal Pradesh and made it his home. He made Gaddis his devotees.

Manimahesh

Manimahesh has also considered the home of the three Lords of the universe, Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma. However, Manimahesh has reckoned as the heaven of Lord Shiva (Kailasa). In addition, The waterfall at the Dhancho on the way to Manimahesh Lake is amazing. This waterfall emanates from the manimahesh lake. According to the local belives lord Vishnu (Vaikunta) resides here. Also lord Bramha resides at a mountain overlooking the Bharmour town. The Gaddis also believe that Shiva resides in the Mount Kailash for six months. Thereafter he moves to the netherworld handing over the reins to Lord Vishnu.

Bharmour – is beautiful town is in middle by high lush green mountains located at a distance of 62 km from Chamba. this place is often referred as the land of Shiva because of belief that lord Shiva resides at mountain Kailash which is located in this area. Bharmour is also popular because of it is starting point of Manimahesh Kailash Yatra, Manimahesh Lake and Chaurasi (84) ancient temples, which are reflecting the glorious past of this hidden town. It is also known as the Abode of Shiva as there are numerous temple dedicated to Lord Shiva in and nearby regions.

Itinerary

Start your Manimahesh Yatra Package from Bharmour with a warm welcome. Bharmour is known for its scenic beauty and for its ancient temples. Chaurasi Temple is located in the center of Bharmour town and it holds immense religious importance because of temples built around 1400 years ago. Bharmani Mata temple complex is at the top of the ridge covered with full of pine and deodar trees situated 4 km from the Bharmour. The place is mainly known for Goddess Bharmani Mata one of the avatars of Durga Mata, And Overnight Stay in Hotel.

The adventure begins as you travel from Bharmour to Hadsar. From Hadsar, embark on a trek to Dhancho (6 KM), passing through picturesque landscapes and serene valleys. The trek is both challenging and rewarding, offering breathtaking views and spiritual solace.

On the third day, continue your trek to the sacred Manimahesh Lake. This holy lake, nestled amidst towering peaks, is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva. Take a dip in the icy waters, participate in rituals, and soak in the divine energy of this sacred place.

Conclude your pilgrimage with a trek back to Hadsar (13 KM Trek) and onward travel to Bharmour (13 KM Drive). Reflect on the spiritual journey and the memories created as you make your way back home.
