For nature lovers traveling to Jodhpur, Machia Biological Park is an important part of the agenda. Located about 8.5 km from the city, this biological wonderland is a part of the vast forest block of Machia, situated near the Kaylana Lake. It is a host to diverse flora and fauna species, as well as a nature interpretation center and the Machia Fort. Along with the animal enclosures, a birdwatching point can also be found, a proof of the fantastic biodiversity of the region. Travellers can take advantage of elephant riding for a small fee. Bird lovers are also given a bird watching location.
For those seeking an in-depth understanding of ecology and biodiversity, a nature interpretation center has been set up. Here you can also find the Machia fort which offers some amazing views from the top, particularly during sunset. This region is very close to Lake Kaylana. It is home to many wild animals including the wolf, desert fox, lizard monitor, rodents, feral cats, gazelles, mongooses, tortoises, etc. There are footpaths built throughout the park for tourists to see the different species in their natural habitats. Also inside the site one can find a variety of arid vegetation.
