Jaisamand Lake

Jaisamand Lake, after the Govind Ballabh Pant Sagar, is the country’s second largest artificial lake. It is surrounded by the Jaisamand Wildlife Sanctuary where a number of endangered animals and migratory birds live. The Queens of Udaipur summer palaces also have a stunning backdrop. Located in a beautifully beautiful setting, this is a place to rejoice. There are six cenotaphs on the marble dam and a temple dedicated to Shiva in the centre. Maharaja Jai Singh created the lake in the 17th century, to be more accurate in 1685, when he was constructing a dam across the river Gomti.

And the grand palaces of the Queens of Udaipur stand to crown the lake. The lake is a beautiful example of riverine architecture, and a spot to visit. For the best possible experience visit it in the winter months. From as little as 30/- INR you can take boat trips at the beach. And then you can rest and observe the wildlife at the Jaisamand Wildlife Sanctuary.
